THE KARORI HISTORICAL SOCIETY (INC) Minutes of the 31st Annual General Meeting held at St Ninian's Hall, Karori Tuesday 1st June 2004 at 7.45pm. 1. WELCOME: The President, Judith Burch, welcomed everybody to the meeting.2. APOLOGIES: Apologies were received and sustained from: Bob Burch, Anne Carr, David Luke, Jenny Mawson, Ann Norgrove. Euan Pearce, and Renata and Roy Savage. 3. CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTESMinutes of the previous Annual General Meeting were adopted and approved. Moved Beryl Hughes Seconded Arthur Norgrove 4. PRESIDENT'S ANNUAL REPORT:
The President presented her annual report. The main areas covered were:

TREASURER'S ANNUAL REPORT: The Treasurer presented the statement of accounts and balance sheet.Moved:That the Treasurer's report be accepted. Moved Judith Burch, Seconded Jan Heynes. 6. ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE: The following were elected: President: Judith Burch, nominated by Beryl Hughes and seconded by Margery Silver. Secretary: Henry Brittain nominated by Judith Burch and seconded by Arthur Olsson. Treasurer: Frances Sutton nominated by Judith Burch and seconded by Jan Heynes. Committee: Jim Brodie Jenny Mawson Ruth Graham Arthur Olsson Jan Heynes Euan Pearce Frances Sutton Philip Rogers Nominated by Judith Burch, and seconded by Daphne Sutton. Auditor: James Graham Nominated by Judith Burch , and seconded by Don Silver. A letter of thanks is to be written to James Graham for his continuing work for the Society. 7. GUEST SPEAKERS: Fiona Foster, Roseanne Carrol, Frankie Delaney, Kelsey Josling and Eli Martin, year 9 pupils of Samuel Marsden College then spoke to the Society about their family history projects. 8. THANKS: Jan Heynes thanked the speakers for their reports on their family projects, which illustrated to the members of the Society how young people are tackling the challenges of research. 9. GENERAL: Robin Ormerod, a member of the Society and past president of the New Zealand Antarctic Society showed the meeting a bronze cast of “Mr Chippy”. This was the cat belonging to Harry McNeish the expedition’s carpenter who is buried in the Karori cemetery. The bronze will be installed on his grave. Info on: STUFF - STORY - HOME : Mr Chippy
