The Karori Historical Society publishes an annual journal "The Stockade". This contains articles on local Karori history. The name of the magazine is based on the fact that there was a military stockade erected in Karori in the 1840s during the New Zealand wars. This was noted by Kitty Cave in "The Karori Historical Society Incorporated: The First Ten Years from 4 April 1973" (April 1983), an article that may be found in the Society's Collection.
