KHS Society Field Trip to Terawhiti Gold Mines
Twenty-five members of the Karori Historical Society joined with members of the Cross Country Vehicle Club on Saturday 2 April 2005 for a tour of some of the old gold sites at Terawhiti. Their guide was Jim Brodie, author of the book "Terawhiti and the Goldfields". A "great day was had by all" as the saying goes - both groups enjoying the opportunity to explore the territory and hear something of its history. The track was "easy" according to our drivers but there was some excitement en route to our lunch stop, as we traversed the course of the stream. This posed a few challenges to some vehicles - but only for a short time.
It is hoped the groups will combined again sometime in the future for another such adventure.
